Shaker Museum Gain Box Task – Pamela Salisbury Gallery

Pamela Salisbury Gallery is proud to husband or wife with Shaker Museum on a job to benefit the Museum which is building a new dwelling in Chatham, NY. This initiative engages visual artists to reimagine the legendary Shaker oval box. As element of the challenge, every single collaborating artist is offered an authentic reproduction of a Shaker oval box built by area woodworker Peter Ahead. The artists are then tasked with making a distinctive artwork working with the box as their level of departure.

For their initial piece, Lilly and Rose, Chie Fueki and Joshua Marsh use silk display screen and acrylic on mulberry paper. These products converse to the perform in Chie and Josh’s clearly show at Pamela Salisbury Gallery, Driving Shut Eyes, for which the few created “works on paper that allow for seeing to arise from a system of engaging with components, as opposed to empirical observation.”

Set up on the 2nd floor of the gallery’s historic Carriage Residence, Lothar Osterburgs solo exhibition,The Extensive Way In, included latest sculpture and photogravures. For the Shaker Museum Advantage Box Project, Osterburg established a glimpse into the Shaker environment in miniature variety. A glass lens mounted in the facet of the box enabled viewers to explore the Shaker inside inside. Diminutive Shaker-type chairs, peg rails, and a broomcrafted by the artist, define the uncomplicated splendor of a Shaker motivated home.
